How we’re fairing up during the crisis.

This week sees the UK move into phase two of lockdown easing.  But the big one for us is phase three which will hopefully see Yoga studios reopening and maybe even hugs being permitted!

There’s currently no accurate reporting of the spreading of coronavirus and we are still a long way off from finding a cure or a vaccination.  Despite the government’s efforts to ease the lockdown, without this crucial information we have to be super careful not to put our teachers and students at risk of contributing to the continuing spread of the virus!

We were so thrilled back in February 2018 when we finally opened our newly-refurbished space on the second floor of Hanover House with two contemporary Yoga studios, large changing rooms with showers and huge windows overlooking the trees of Horseshoe Common – right in the heart of Bournemouth!  Our mission was to create Bournemouth’s friendliest Yoga community and to inspire members through the practice of Yoga, meditation and self-discovery.

The evening we had to close I literally heard the announcement on the radio on my way in to practise a class.  It was incredibly difficult news to adjust to and we truly hope the business can bounce back again anew – but not until it is safe to do so! Despite Yoga studios being a health and wellness service, they are considered non-essential.  They come under the same lockdown category as gyms, restaurants, bars and nightclubs.   Like everyone else, when we do finally get to re-open the space we will have to sanitize after every class and class-sizes will be limited as students are kept 2 metres apart.  Probably the most difficult part is we will have to avoid congregating in reception for a pre- or post-Yoga catch-up!

We will continue contributing to the physical and mental wellbeing of the community in the best ways we can throughout this compromising period of lockdown easing.  This may include continuing with our online classes in combination with introducing some small group outdoor classes and socially-distanced studio classes with the windows open.  The good news for us is that people are going to need Yoga more than ever.  For anyone who hasn’t been doing our online classes during the lockdown, have a glance at our online timetable and get in touch with us if you’d like to sign up to our £10/week unlimited online membership!

Yoga shapes your life and helps you to be your best everyday both for yourself and for those around you. Especially during the lockdown it’s been marvellous to observe the flexibility, versatility and responsibility taken by the community to stay united – you “keep calm and do Yoga” wherever you are!  So we promise to continue working harder than ever to make sure we can continue sharing the magic of Yoga.  Our priority is to stay safe – we’ll get there together!
