Water is Life

You may have noticed we are a plastic-free studio.  We made the choice from the moment we opened the business not to sell bottled water as we take every measure we can to operate sustainably, which is very important to us.

Instead we have a constant supply of cooled and uncooled filtered water, which you can use to fill up your own water bottle or purchase one of our super light reusable aluminium bottles for £3. Aluminium is the most abundant material in the Earth’s crust and is strong, lightweight and highly recyclable, so for us it’s the best material for a reusable water bottle.

Your body is roughly 70% water (same as the planet itself!) and it’s the element that connects and nourishes your physical substance, so it’s very important to keep your hydration levels up.  The amount of  water needed to hydrate varies from person to person and usually by the time you actually feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated.  The need for hydration increases when you do exercise, particularly when you sweat.  Appropriate hydration before commencing exercise is extremely important and can prevent you from getting muscular cramps as well as avoiding fatigue.  Drinking water before and after exercise helps you to work out more efficiently and unlike packaged ‘sports’ drinks, drinking pure filtered water will not add unnecessary caloric intake or sugar to your diet.

So keep yourself hydrated throughout your working day as well as before and after your Yoga practice.  Studies show that dehydration can reduce your ability to concentrate as well as increase feelings of aggression or irritation.   So drink up to calm down!
