Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Chakras

In our Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra workshop next week we’ll be bringing together Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra with ancient chakra theory.  Read on to learn more about how and why I plan to blend these systems together.

Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra and the chakras complement each other beautifully because they share core principles of energy healing, stillness and surrender.

As you may know, the chakras are located along the spine and are important energy centres in the subtle body.  There are seven main chakras that are linked together throughout the whole blend of the emotional, physical and mental bodies.  Each chakra relates to a different area and function in the body and mind.

So how does this fit together with Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra?

Yin Yoga is a passive form of Yoga using Yoga props to rest the body whilst holding postures from 3 to 8 minutes to settle into stillness.  Yin Yoga is based on releasing energy blockages to allow qi (also known as chi or prana) to move around the body.  You are asked to consciously check in with your internal body, choosing whether to deepen your posture or ease your edge whilst staying in the pose. Every moment of every posture asks for your full attention, being aware of the mild discomforts, noticing how you are feeling and practising acceptance.

Yoga Nidra is a guided relaxation technique that allows you to achieve a deep state of rest and healing.  Often referred to as ‘Yogic sleep’, Yoga Nidra is a profound way to initiate effective relaxation.

So after we practise a series of Yin Yoga postures related to each of the major chakras, you will lie comfortably in Savasana and be guided to rotate your consciousness around the mandala of the body.  As you slip into a deep state of rest, you will experience multiple levels of release through further therapeutic healing of guided visualisations related to the chakras.

Are you ready for this trifecta? With releasing of physical tension, energetic balancing and deep relaxation combined, you will immerse yourself into a deep state of peacefulness. So book now to allow your energy to settle as we move into the darkest phase of the year.
